Surely by now you are heard that AIG gave out huge bonuses to it’s “top” employees.  They were able to do so because Democratic Senator Chris Dodd from Connecticut added a loophole in the legislation he helped author which allowed AIG to give out the bonuses in the first place.  A stupid move to say the least which is why he initially lied to cover it up but when you look at his campaign contributions you can see what really happened.  “Coincidentally” AIG just happened to donate $103,100 dollars to Mr Dodd’s campaign in 2008.  In fact he was the top recipient of political campaign contributions from AIG last year.  You’re a smart reader, you can put two and two together and see what happened here.  Of course Mr. Dodd is shocked and outraged. It is interesting to also note that AIG contributed it’s money almost 3-1 in favor of Democrats.  They know who their friend are.

You read the title right. $790 Billion dollars of your tax money spent and no one in Congress even read the bill. Does that sound smart to you? The bill wasn’t even available to be read until 10pm the night before the vote. Seeing as how the bill is 1,073 pages long there is no chance that anyone read it before the vote. It begs the question, how do you justify spending that kind of money when you don’t even know what you are spending it on?

Abraham Lincoln famously said in his Gettysburg address that a “government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” Lincoln was a great man, but how many of your Congressional Representatives can you say the same? Our country, especially the elected representatives of the people have completely lost site of the principles that this country was founded upon. Can you honestly say that you feel your representative is looking out for your interests when they are on Capitol Hill?

Does anyone in Washington pay taxes anymore? Lately it seems like every time you turn around one of President Obama’s nominees is in trouble because of some sort of tax snafu. Of course all delinquent tax payers did so by accident. They would never dream about trying to evade taxes, right?

Take Timothy Geithner for example, he is now the Secretary of the Treasury. It turns out that for several years he neglected to pay over $35,000 in taxes while employed with the International Monetary Fund. In his defense how could he have been expected to know about taxes and such, it’s not as if he is the head of the national tax system or something. Oh wait, that is exactly what he is. Of course when this all came to light and it threatened his nomination Mr. Geithner decided it was time to pay up. It should be noted that Mr. Geithner is the man running the bailout program now. He is a crook giving out money to the other crooks.
