You read the title right. $790 Billion dollars of your tax money spent and no one in Congress even read the bill. Does that sound smart to you? The bill wasn’t even available to be read until 10pm the night before the vote. Seeing as how the bill is 1,073 pages long there is no chance that anyone read it before the vote. It begs the question, how do you justify spending that kind of money when you don’t even know what you are spending it on?

On Monday, February 16th President Obama will sign into law the nearly $800 billion dollar stimulus package and most likely he will do so with a great deal of excitement. So what will the stimulus package do for you? For the vast majority of Americans there will be little to no change at all in their lives other than perhaps a small tax credit. The stimulus package isn’t geared toward the 90-94% of Americans who have jobs, it is geared toward helping the 6-10% who don’t.  That is exactly why it will fail to bring about any meaningful change.

For the past several months Congress has been bungling the economic recovery of the United States in every way imaginable. Lack of oversight, no direction and pork barrel spending have been their trademarks. So far they have spent $700 Billion of the taxpayers dollars on the Bailout and are closing in on approving an $825 Billion dollar Economic “Stimulus” package. Thus far the Bailout has done nothing to help the economy and each day we read about more and more CEO greed and corporate waste. The new Economic Stimulus package is doomed to the same fate as the Bailout. It is filled with Congressional pork barrel spending. If they were serious about helping the average Joe they would have instituted a plan similar to the one below. It’s simple and to the point.
