The Apple Touchpad / iPad Is Really About The iTunes Bookstore

Apple, as it is with most of it’s products, has not been very forthcoming with details about it’s expected touchpad device.  Speculation has abounded about the software it will use, the size of it’s screen and it’s other capabilities.  However, to Apple the iPad is all about capturing a new market it has not ventured into very much, that market being books and other written media traditionally delivered to us in hard copy printed form.  To put it more succinctly, the iPad will be the device which launches the iTunes Bookstore.

GM Unveils Next Disastrous Money Losing Venture

GM recently announced a new partnership with Segway under which they built a new concept people mover the “PUMA”.  With any luck it will hopefully never see production.  One look at this bizarre vehicle will have you wondering what they are thinking.  An informal survey on CNN.com showed that over 70% of the people polled said they wouldn’t be caught dead driving around in it.  The PUMA is designed to be piloted around cities and is not intended for highway use.  Although it is capable of traveling 35mph.

Considering GM is on the verge of bankruptcy one has to wonder why GM would even contemplate such a vehicle.  Concept vehicles have their place and in many cases they stir up some positive PR for the company.  However, in the case of the PUMA it just goes to show how out of touch GM has become with their consumer.  They are designing concept vehicles which have no future, hopefully zero possibility of being built, and that give GM an even worse name.

The “Secret” To World Peace

Despite what you might think or hear on the news world peace is achievable, at least in a broad sense.  Honestly, it isn’t even a very difficult problem to solve.  It all comes down to economics.  The “You have something I want” type thinking has been around since the days of Adam and Eve.  If  WWII showed us anything it was that kind of thinking is still alive and well.  Japan went to war and expanded throughout the pacific in order to bring more resources under their control.  Germany vilified the Jews because they were to convince people that Jews were responsible for their economic plight.

Facebook Is NOT Turning Into A Pay Site

For a while now a Facebook group has been circulating which contends “Because of Facebook’s huge popularity Mark Zuckerberg is getting a lot of offers from people wanting to buy Facebook. People Who WILL turn it into a paysite.” The original group can be found here.  Over 3 Million people have joined the group which is astonishing in itself.  However, the threat of Facebook becoming a pay site has absolutely no basis in fact.  It’s like saying Walmart is going to get bought out because it is so hugely popular and the new owners are going to sell off each store to families so it will be a family run business again.  Yeah it could happen but it is extremely unlikely.
